We have an allotment! A very exciting new project for us... Lots of work to be done but our aim is that the young people will be able to grow their own food produce for the community. We are looking for volunteers to help guide and advise us (and maybe get your hands dirty too if you are up for it!).
Our vision for this project is to give our young people the opportunity to gain a real sense of achievement and pride whilst learning important skills from our volunteers. We have a team ready to clear the site but once this is done, we really need some gardening/allotment experts to help us plan what to grow and how to do this...
If you think you might be able to help, please get in touch.. Contact Us
We hope the space with become a living classroom for our own young people, as well as in schools, and other groups- welcoming all backgrounds and abilities, with a focus on those facing mental health challenges, academic pressures, or risk-taking behaviours. Through gardening, construction, planning, and design, participants develop practical skills, teamwork, and resilience. The hands-on experience and the rewards of seeing their efforts flourish will boost well-being and confidence, supported by social horticultural principles. A donated poly tunnel will allow year-round use.
The wider community benefits through individual and corporate volunteering opportunities, as we foster intergenerational learning, environmental awareness, and community spirit. We aim for the project to positively impact Amble, encouraging pride in a greener town.
Environmental benefits are central: reclaiming unwanted allotments, recycling building materials, boosting biodiversity, creating habitats for pollinators, reducing carbon footprint by growing local food, and water conservation.

We've made some good progress so far clearing the allotment - A few shots below of the clearance job so far!
NEXT STEPS
We have our 'site plan' with the layout of the elements within the allotment and we will be implementing this plan section by section.
This work will include ;
Completion of the Poly Tunnel (putting on the coverand securing the structure)
Fully clearing the rubbish from the site
Building raised beds for planting,
Resetting paving slabs to ensure safe and accessible pathways
and more....
Subject to weather, we are gathering volunteers to start implementing our plan on Thursday 19th Feb 2026. We will have a morning session 10-12 noon and an afternoon session 12.30-2.30pm. If the weather is not kind to us, we will look at an alternative date.
