Amble Youth Project (MACPI) started as a multi agency crime prevention initiative in 1996 and now operates from two sites close to Amble town centre. As a registered charity working with young people, the organisation recognises that a central need of young people is to feel safe, valued, and cared for, and acknowledges that each young person is a unique individual who needs to be treated with respect.
The organisation has its main base just outside East Amble. The building was a former electrical retail/warehouse unit that had been empty for several years and was almost derelict. The organisation provides young people with an informal meeting place where they take part in constructive, organised activities with the support of experienced and qualified staff.
